We have been developing a very exciting community project for improving the environment around Smallford Station (a 150-year old Grade 2 Listed Building). We will be undertaking this in collaboration with staff and students at Oaklands College and the following Departments/Faculties are already involved in discussions with us –
- Art & Design
- Graphics, Multimedia and Photography
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Horticulture
- Special Education Needs
The most recent development has been the decision to proceed with producing a Planning Application to present to St Albans District Council (with whom we have been co-operating for several years) and we are extremely lucky to have –
- a District Councillor who is sponsoring us – and will meet the costs of The Application
- a Town Planner and retired Architect who will develop and present The Application – and are providing their services for free!
And here are our exciting plans –
How are we going to achieve this?
- Putting together a Cunning Plan – Latest drafts are available
- Ongoing discussions with Oaklands College
- Consulting and Involving
* Smallford Residents’ Association
* Local Councillors
* St Albans District Council
* HCC Countryside Management Service
* Our Members, Friends and Associates
* Our Local Community & Wider Public - Seeking Approval-Agreement of St Albans District Council
* SADC Planning Department - Fund Raising
- Restoration, Renovation, Refurbishment
And here are a couple of artists impressions (with thanks to John Clemow) –
