Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Opening of the Hatfield-St Albans Branch Line
As many visitors to our website may recall, what is now The Alban Way was once the Hatfield-St Albans Railway. The Line opened on 16th October 1865, 150 years ago, and, to celebrate this anniversary, we organised a range of free events – with publicity flyers distributed to over 4000 local homes!

The flier above was delivered to many homes along and close to the St Albans section of The Alban Way during the week beginning 5th October, Whether-or-not you received one, knowing about it could be a good reason to celebrate! The Alban Way is what remains of the Hatfield-St Albans Railway Line. This October will see the 150th Anniversary of the opening of this line and, guess what – we’re planning some celebrations – and you’d be very welcome to join us!
Smallford Station Platform Gets Cleared!
Video footage of the on-going works to clear the Smallford Station platform of overgrown foliage. The work is being undertaken in an effort to help preserve the platform structures along the length of the Alban Way, up to Smallford Station.
